We can’t contain our Eggcitement for Spring!
Fresh flowers in the planters. Patio weather. Polka dot balloons all hung from the storefronts with care. These are all signs that Spring has arrived in Downtown Lee's Summit, and we are here for it. As soon as the thermometer read above 45 degrees, I was ready to freshen up my wardrobe (step aside sweatpants, it's romper season) and find cute little plant babies for my terracotta pot. My shopping buddy and creative content director, Rachael, and I ventured out during the Spring Open House on March 5th, iced coffees in tow. Mother Nature sure delivered on the beautiful weather, but boy was I blown away by all of the fresh finds in the shops Downtown!
One thing that sets Downtown Lee's Summit apart from well.. practically every other place I've shopped is the friendly, helpful staff at each shop. They take great care of their customers, and make a full day of shopping much more enjoyable. We started at All A'Bloom, where owner Barb Keller greeted us at the door with a fresh tray of the tiniest, most adorable succulents I had ever seen. Next, we visited Ivy & Sparrow, where Amanda guided me to the perfect set of faux plants to add a fresh pop of green to my pot. The fashion gurus at Elle & Em helped me find a breezy, patterned romper that fits like a dream. It's perfect for a date night, or for our family photos this spring. We fell in love with Downtown all over again. Once you visit, we think you will too. To see more of our Fresh Finds in Downtown, check out our video.
The next best thing to a ladies night out is spending a laid back Saturday afternoon in Downtown with my family. My husband and I are new parents to a 10-month old, and we appreciate how fun and easy it is to navigate Downtown with a little one. Our public spaces and events are inclusive and family friendly by design. Whether you're two or 92, we want Downtown to feel like your home away from home. We filmed a little Cook family Vlog of our afternoon out. If you need inspiration to plan your next family outing, be sure to check it out.
The Spring Open House was just the beginning of what Downtown Main Street has planned for this spring. Starting March 29th, families are invited to "Eggs-plore" Downtown Lee's Summit. Not “eggs-actly” an Easter egg hunt, this event is a safe way to "eggs-plore" downtown and hunt for decorated eggs in the storefront windows. Each egg features a QR code to enter to win giveaways.
I'm proud to work for Downtown Main Street because I believe that events create memories. Tasting the first fresh peach of the season at the Farmers Market. Visiting Santa at the Mayor's Tree Lighting. Events like Eggs-plore Downtown Lee's Summit and our Fourth Fridays Art Walk help people feel connected to their community. That's why we do what we do. With your support, together we can make sure that Downtown continues to thrive for years to come.
To join us, visit downtownls.org/donate. All of the funds we raise are poured right back into the community, through hundreds of events each year, creating the perfect place for you to call home!
