Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street puts on hundreds of events each year, but we couldn’t do it without your help! We have several volunteer opportunities that can accommodate your interests and amount of free time!

VOLUNTEER OPP

Special Event Volunteers

Sign up to be added to our Special Event Volunteer List. These volunteers usually work the day of an event for a block of hours. Tasks could include set-up, tear down, serving beverages, or crowd control. Estimated time involved: 4-8 hours.

Committee Volunteers

Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street’s committees are shaped from the National Main Street Center’s Four Point Approach. We also have special committees that assist in planning specific events. Sign up to be added to one of our committee email lists. Estimated time involved: 1-2 hours each month.

Subcommittees

Subcommittees include the Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Day Committee, Fundraising Committee, Piccadilly Gala Committee, Downtown Days Committee and Cultural Arts Committee. If you are interested in being involved with any of these subcommittees, email for more information: info@downtownls.org

Design Committee

This committee works to encourage appropriate aesthetics in the downtown, such as through appropriate building rehabs, in-fill design and downtown cleanliness. It capitalizes on downtown assets, such as historic buildings and creates an inviting atmosphere through window displays, parking areas, signage, sidewalks, streetlights and landscaping.

The Design Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. the first Friday of each month at the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street office, 13 SE 3rd St.  Contact Donnie Rodgers, Jr. for more information: donnie@downtownls.org.

Economic Vitality Committee

This committee works to identify new market opportunities for the downtown, find new uses for historic commercial buildings, and stimulate investment in property.  It also assists with business expansion, retention and recruitment.

The Economic Enhancement Committee meets at noon the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street office, 13 SE Third St.  Contact Donnie Rodgers for more information: donnie@downtownls.org.

Organization Committee

This committee gets everyone working toward the same goal. It builds consensus and cooperation among the groups that have an important stake in the downtown.  It also works to recruit volunteers, gives input on organizational structure and helps to build strong committees.

Promotions Committee

This committee sells the image of Downtown Lee’s Summit by marketing the unique characteristics of downtown to shoppers, investors, new businesses and visitors. Our strategy is to promote a positive image through advertising, retail promotion activities, special events, marketing campaigns and bringing more people downtown, which all is carried out by the committee and other volunteers.
