Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street announces the addition of new staff
Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street (DLSMS), a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and historic preservation of Downtown Lee’s Summit, Missouri, welcomed the addition of two new staff members this month. DLSMS is excited to announce the addition of Robyn Simmons, Events & Promotions Director and Jen Morris, Communications Coordinator.
“Robyn brings an excellent combination of event management, logistics and volunteer experience to the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street team, and we are very excited to have her,” said Executive Director, Jody Fristoe.
Robyn Simmons, Downtown Lee’s Summit’s new Events and Promotions Director graduated from George Washington University with Bachelors of Arts degrees in Journalism and Political Science. She is also a graduate of Lee’s Summit High School and has returned to Lee’s Summit from Washington D.C. where she worked in government relations and hospitality. A former hotel sales and conference services manager, she has extensive experience in events and hospitality.
For nearly a decade, Robyn served on the Leadership Team of Celebrate Fairfax, which is the largest community-wide festival in northern Virginia. Her roles included stage manager, gate supervisor, crowd management facilitator, talent reviewer and logistics team member. In 2014, the Celebrate Fairfax Board of Directors presented her with the CFI Ambassador Award in honor of her outstanding service to the festival.
In addition, Robyn has volunteered in numerous events including the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, Presidential Inaugural and the Del Ray Music Festival. Robyn currently volunteers with the Kansas City – International Association of Business Communicators and the Truly 150 Lee’s Summit Sesquicentennial. In her free time, Robyn can be found attending concerts, cheering on the Royals, taking pictures of the countryside and attending as many festivals as she can work into her schedule.
Another addition to the team is Jen Morris, Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street’s new Communications Coordinator. Jen graduated from Drury University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and minors in Design Arts and Global Studies. She brings with her experience in brand management, graphic design, and research, most recently in the higher education industry.
Jen is a life-long resident of the Kansas City area and is new to Lee’s Summit, where she is very excited to get settled and start meeting the residents and business owners. Most recently, Jen served as the Research Analyst at a local advertising agency where she developed target market and competitive research for clients and internal teams. She previously held positions as a brand manager for two national online toy brands and as a magazine designer for the wholesale baking industry. In her free time, Jen enjoys taking dance classes, painting, thrift shopping and learning how to refinish antique furniture.
