Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street Announces New Events & Promotions Director
Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street (DLSMS), a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and historic preservation of Downtown Lee’s Summit, Missouri, recently welcomed the addition of Julie Cook as the new Events & Promotions Director.
“We are excited to welcome Julie Cook to the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street team. Beyond her impressive list of accomplishments, Julie’s friendly, approachable personality makes her the perfect fit for Downtown Lee’s Summit,” stated Donnie Rodgers, executive director.
Julie Cook is a 2010 graduate of Iowa State University and earned a master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2012. Prior to her move to Lee’s Summit, Julie spent four years as the Director of Student Involvement for Westminster College in Fulton, MO. Julie has managed and staffed over 300 events during her six-year career in higher education and brings a wealth of event planning and marketing experience to the DLSMS staff.
While at Westminster, Julie supervised a student programming board, led a new student orientation program, and facilitated student leadership development. Julie established a strong partnership with The Brick District, a consortium of local business owners and volunteers, to further integrate the students and campus events with the Fulton community.
Julie and her husband Christopher relocated to Lee’s Summit in mid-February and are excited to build connections with the Downtown merchants and community members.
