New Businesses Team Cocktail and Ocies KC Open in Downtown Lee’s Summit

Team Cocktail Opening Day

Downtown Lee’s Summit welcomed two new businesses to the burgeoning retail shopping scene: Team Cocktail and Ocies KC.

On May 11th Team Cocktail opened their doors to a long line of customers ready to explore their new space at 8 SW 3rd Street. The Fliehs family started Team Cocktail as an online business, steadily growing their brand to over 25,000 social media followers, and in 2022 opened their first brick and mortar location in Lake Lotawana. “I think we at Team Cocktail thrive because we each bring something different to the table—think of it as a perfectly mixed cocktail of skills.  It's our brainstorm sessions (with a cocktail in hand) where the best ideas happen! Our favorite part of the business has been the community of amazing friends, customers, and followers who have all become like family over the years! It has always been our mission to bring people together by creating awesome, high-quality apparel and accessories that help people have fun, relax and enjoy life as we do, one cocktail at a time,” shared co-owner Lyndsey Fliehs.

The self-professed “drinking company with a clothing problem” produces some of the comfiest, most versatile apparel you will ever own. The store is glowing with a positive, fun energy, where shelves are lined with hats, sweatshirts, vacation tuxedos (more on that later), boozies, and fun accessories with witty inscriptions. Their new line of KC Chiefs gear has been a hit with customers this fall. Anyone searching for an outfit that transitions seamlessly from day to night, from the yacht club to the nightclub, needs to add a vacation tuxedo to their packing list. Imagine the silhouette of a polo shirt paired with matching shorts in a breathable, moisture wicking fabric in a print with just enough pizzazz to stand out in the crowd. Team Cocktail is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ocies KC opened just in time for Ladies Night Out, the annual Downtown summer beach party, on June 20th. The first things customers will notice at their location on 316 SW Main Street are the stunning painted windows and the tropical themed patio space, decked out with tikis and Hawaiian florals. Ocies KC specializes in loungewear and women’s apparel. Customers are raving about their latest collection of boots and fleece button ups, closet staples as we transition into sweater weather. The store also features a “beauty bar” where customers can choose a makeup bag, and fill it with travel size makeup, brushes, and skincare items. “These are great for stocking stuffers, or just to have something quick and easy to throw into your bag as you’re leaving for a trip,” said owner Alisa Eaton.

Within weeks of opening their new space, Ocies KC jumped right in to participate in the Fourth Fridays Art Walk. Even after the season concluded, Alisa continued to partner with other small businesses to host pop-up events on her patio space. Ocies KC is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from Noon-4 p.m.
