3rd Street Corridor Improvements
The City of Lee’s Summit with assistance from a consultant, WSP USA, is designing infrastructure improvements for the 3rd Street Corridor from Blue Parkway to Jefferson Street, a project that was approved by voters with the passage of the 2017 sales tax initiative.
The proposed 3rd Street project improvements include added sidewalk on the north side, shared-use trail on the south side, and pedestrian crossings; installing street lighting; and utility relocations. The existing three-lane roadway is proposed to remain a three-lane facility with reduced lane widths, access management modifications, and replaced pavement, curb, storm drainage, and waterline infrastructure. The project goals are to enhance safety and improve connectivity, to result in an inviting gateway corridor into historic downtown Lee’s Summit.
The City is hosting an in-person public meeting on April 29, 2021, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers at Lee’s Summit City Hall, located at 220 SE Green Street. Project conceptual plans and exhibits will be available for public inspection at the meeting. Oral and written public input will be taken during the meeting.
An online public meeting format will also be offered to accommodate individuals who either cannot make the in-person meeting or who are not comfortable with participating in live events. The online public meeting will be offered from April 30, 2021, through June 1, 2021, at CityofLS.net/third-street, and will contain the same plans and exhibits shown at the April 29, 2021, public meeting.
Any oral, written, or emailed statements received prior to June 2, 2021, will be made a part of the public meeting record for the project.
If you have any questions about the April 29, 2021, live event or the online public meeting forum you can reach Jackie White, P.E., senior staff engineer, at Jackie.White@cityofls.net or (816) 969-1800.
