Downtown Days Returns to Historic Downtown Lee's Summit

Plan to kick off the summer during the annual Downtown Days Festival, presented by Lee’s Summit Medical Center! The festival is Friday to Sunday, June 3-5, spanning six blocks in historic Downtown Lee’s Summit. Live entertainment featuring The Elders, carnival, car show, sports & autograph booth, handmade goods, festival food, robotics demonstrations, SMOKIN’ on the Summit BBQ competition, and much more are part of this year’s festivities. Festival hours are:

 

Friday, June 3: 12pm-10pm

Saturday, June 4: 10am-10pm

Sunday, June 5: 11am-4pm

 

The Downtown Days Festival is the major fundraiser for Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and historic preservation of Downtown Lee’s Summit. It is presented by Lee’s Summit Medical Center and is sponsored by Amtrak/Missouri River Runner, Abundant Life Church, Bank of Lee’s Summit, Central States Beverage Co., Cushman Wakefield, The Kansas City Star, KCP&L, Lee’s Summit Journal, Longview Funeral Home, and Tingle Flooring.

 

Every year, the Downtown Days committee brings new events and activities to the festival, and this year is no exception.

OTHER  ACTIVITIES

  • SMOKIN’ on the Summit BBQ: This BBQ Competition is a fundraiser presented by Construction and Abatement Services, Inc. and organized by the Downtown Lee’s Summit Rotary Club. The annual event is KCBS sanctioned and a Missouri State Championship event. Over 80 teams will compete for a $10,000 purse and the right to be the 2016 Grand Champion of one of the Midwest’s premiere BBQ competitions.
  • Carnival: Enjoy rides, games, and food; open all hours of the festival. Sunday is wristband day where you can purchase a wristband and ride unlimited rides during festival hours.
  • Kids’ Street: Games, face painting, White Tigers Exhibit, food and more available all weekend.
  • White Tigers: After taking a year off, the white tiger exhibit is back! Come see LIVE white tigers, feed them, and get your picture taken with the roaring duo (small fee applies).
  • Car Show: The South 71 Cruisers Car Club will have their classic cars lined up near 3rd and SW Main streets on Sunday from 11a.m. to 4p.m.
  • Robotics Demonstration: Local, world-class student robotics teams will showcase their robot creations on Sunday, weather permitting. The demonstrations will be located at 3rd and SW Main streets.
  • Sports & Autograph Booth: This booth will feature guest appearances by local athletes and team mascots. Autographs and giveaways will be available throughout the weekend.
